To be heard or not to be heard

I've read many many and many more books for pleasure.  Now I am still reading books for my pleasure and stepped up to a category of reading to give reviews.  What makes the difference?  Is there a difference?

When reading for pleasure, I don't really have to retain as much of the book.  Does that sound foolish?  Does it make sense?  I'm not meaning I'd forget details of the book, but I'm not set on reading it to cement hard facts to my brain about the book. Most of us I bet pick up a book and choose to immerse ourselves in it.  Dip out of real life reality and just swim in the world of the book.  We want to be entertained, amused and carried away like the Calgon commercial.

When I'm reading and know I will be writing a review, then I'm more hard nosed about how I'm reading.  I'm looking for the quality of the book.  How it is written, whats it truly trying to portray. What genre is it? Is it fact or fiction?  Am I enjoying it enough to want to share it with others.  Was I able to dive right into it or did I begrudgingly turn the pages just to get through it to write the review?  Did it excite me, did I want it not to end???  The list goes on and on.

What do I do if I don't like the book.  In most cases I usually do finish the book.  These are the books I really don't like to review. I try very hard to be objective and state precisely why I didn't care for the book.  Most often I'm finding the books I don't care for are the ones that take forever to get into the story.

A Fresh new blog

This much I know...

What an interesting name for a blog huh?  This much I know.  How can one measure how much we know?

This blog will have everything and anything in it about the books I've read and the books I want to read.  Will it interest you??  Who knows.  Maybe it will and maybe it wont.
